Great just message me prior to our leaving that Friday so I know to watch out for you.Hi Kent,
My wife and i are in our 1st year of "Overlanding". We grew up in Amador county so off road camping is in our blood. We now have a 28 month old and a 8 month old. I noticed your above comment about starting an Overland Kids program and would like to help/learn. We could make this trip but don't know yet if we can get up Friday or Saturday. Will be in touch. Thanks!

If your going to be at the lake around 1200 hrs Friday your contact is Jim Forshey @Jim (Placerville) he is leading our advanced party up there. What comms will you have?Hi Kent,
Thanks for doing this!
We are coming up from LA on 395. We will leave Thursday evening get as far north as we can, and hunker down for the night. If all goes well we might get to Bear Lake by noon.
Please don’t tell anyone this: We are both very excited! :)

Hi Costa,Hi Kent, I'd love to join but have a few questions.
We travel with two small kids (3 and 4.5 y/o) and two dogs which makes things slow,
we can leave towards the location on Friday at 3 pm, from Livermore so we can make the campsite towards Friday evening.
Will that work?

It is the fastest way thats how we are going in.Hi Kent,
We will be arriving around 8 pm on Friday, what is the best way to get to the campsite? Is taking the Rubicon trail from Tahoma and blackwood canyon rd the best way?

Not much, cell phone on At&t, and a 22 channel hand-held walky-talkie. They are good for about a mile or so unless there’s a tree in the way.If your going to be at the lake around 1200 hrs Friday your contact is Jim Forshey @Jim (Placerville) he is leading our advanced party up there. Once we get to Bear Lake, should be good enough.
