I'm debating selling my 2006 Lexus LX470? I've got low miles and is in mint condition with barely over 101K miles. It is stock so no off-road mods. Considering getting a lighter smaller SUV for Mods. What has been your experience with the LX470 for Overlanding . . . Would anybody be interested in it?

They rock?
I have run with several of them over the years. If I sold my FJ80, I would outfit one of those. The parts availability is almost limitless and the durability is second to none. If you take care of it, it will outlive you.
The possible downside is, you need to make sure its very reliable. This means baselining the vehicle and this gets expensive. With 100k miles it won't be as bad as my 200k mile FJ. With an exception to the mods, you want to run as many Toyota parts as possible.
Unless you buy something new, your going to need to baseline whatever you get. If the vehicle you own now fits what you want, your actually ahead of the game.

As it sits now, I'm around 25k into baselining including mods. The only pieces that aren't new at this time are the steering box and the trans. With those done and the amount of miles I drive it, it's good for another 25+ years. That might sound like a lot but, my vehicle was around 40k new in 96. In todays market, my vehicle is still selling for around 25k-45k and still needing to be baselined.
As I said, if it fits what you want, you have a great starting platform. Here's a link to a landcruiser technical forum. IH8Mud Their technical only and not really social like this one. They helped me quite a bit when I first got mine years ago.

Thank you so much. I might go with a newer ride or mod my wife's 4Runner. If anyone is interested in buying the LX470 let me know. Car Gurus offered $27K for it but I'm thinking $30K would be a fair price.

Th 4runner is another very good platform. Selling the Lexus will get the 4Runner setup or put you a good ways into something new. I also have a new Tacoma I havent started modding yet. Its my daily so it wont go as radical as my FJ80.

Sell it.

You are not "in love" with the LX470 since you are concerned about making a profit from it. More than likely you wont want to deal with the quirks of owning a 20 year old SUV. Personally, somebody will have to pry my 1999 100 series out of my hands and I couldn't think of a better vehicle. 368k miles on the odometer and I wouldn't hesitate to drive it cross country then run the TAT on the way back.

Obviously money is a major factor, but my advice is not to let the profit-factor sway you too much. You've got a great rig (legit). Of course there are others, but missing "the one that got away" is a real story.

I'd suggest doing some real planning, both for this one's potential and another you can picture building. Whatever comes out of that process will likely be easier to live with than selling just for the cash money.

I had a 97 80 Series and I agree it just felt too big and heavy for my tastes. The LX470 is even heavier than a J80. Maybe look at GX470s, they have the same powertrain but aren't quite as monstrous as a J100.
