Got some new goods in. Hi-lift Jack, 50q Magellan ice cooler, spare SCS stealth six 17" wheel and 285 MT firestone. I am planning on ripping out the back of Sawyer "4runner" to install a drawer system where the cooler will be pulled all the way out for easy access. And two drawers for cooking essentials and other miscellaneous things. If any one has tips for taking out the compartment area on the 4gens let me know! Also running two Plano rifle cases up top with towing gear, tools etc.. and another with campsite gear: Tent, shovel, axe rachet straps, saw etc. Sawyer is coming along!

I like the idea of those rifle cases up top. Durable, I'm guessing weatherproof, lightweight if you need to pull them down for some reason, and most importantly, they're not too tall/deep so they're easy to reach into from ground or standing on your sliders. I see a lot of people running aluboxes or similar up there, causing much higher roof clearance (for both foliage and parking garages etc), and it's not as easy to reach down inside them and grab something specific without pulling down the whole box. I like the idea of flatter, shallow containers for those reasons. Props.

I agree, I think people manly go for the alu from the look. But a rifle case fits perfect I'll post a pic of how I am attaching them this week hopefully. Got the rear compartment area stripped out so it's time to start being a carpenter and get the drawers installed!

Also was wondering what people are using for windshield wipers. As in like if there is a certain brand meant for more off-roading?

Yeah would like to see how you're mounting the rifle cases to roof rack.

I'm going to just get some U bolts drill straight through the box and seal it off some how so it doesn't lose water tight integrity. So a bolt and washer in the bottom and a bolt and washer on top inside the box. If that makes sense ha.

I see. Won't be easy to detach and pull down on the fly. Dunno a better way though.

You won't really ever have somthing exactly the right way and I just like the idea of being able to know exactly where everything is and it's easy to access. I personally don't see a need to take it down unless I'm not off tossing in which case I'll just undo the bolts. I might be doing it tomorrow so stand by bud!

So we didn't get the cases on due to the fact that we got our spare Stealth Custom Series wheel and Firestone tire in so that's up on top. Going to need to do some more measuring. Sawyer looks like a beast! Also if anyone is on Instagram go give my wife and I's 4Runner page @sawyer_4x4 we will be making shirts and stickers shortly with her graphic design company @rayco_inks_graphics.

Well after a long period of no updating my Father and I whipped this back system out over thanksgiving break.... finally. I didn't take to many pics while building it but the after product is awesome. Each drawer has a click on LED light. And the galley drawer has a pull out table as a false bottom drawer. It's not perfect but definitely gets the job done!
