Anyone using the Samsung Galaxy Active Pro tablet here? Any thoughts?

Looking for a new Android tablet as mine is quite old now. Happy with Android and Oruxmaps App, so I intend to get a new Android tab...

I'm an iPad guy but I like the fact that this tablet meets all/some of MIL-STD-810G and IP68-rated; sounds like a good rugged choice. I did not see a built in GPS being claimed on the Samsung site; this is something I would prefer as it means (possibly) better accuracy and (possibly) less devices to tether/manage/charge.

I am still using it and it works great and it does have gps and its own data but my truck does have a wifi signal also so i hope i dont run out of either. it tracks great while on the trail and im starting to learn it more and find trails while we are driving down another.

So in this same line... what Samsung Tabs have built in GPS and which ones have a USB for an external GPS antenna, or both?

Looking to buy a refurb on eBay and with so many choices - Tab A, Tab, B, Tab LGTBQ... Looking up the specs on the Tab A 8, it says in the paragraph it has GPS but Samsung doesn't show it in the connectivity section of specs. I have a 2nd gen tab, probably 5 years old now. FUnctions great, WiFi, cell, etc but the battery lasts about half a day sitting idle.

Will only use it to run GAIA in CO, WY, NM, TX and then next year for a trip from Texas to Alaska, roundtrip. Happy to download but want real time mapping of my travel.

I believe they are like apple. If it has cellular service it has GPS. All of their devices have a micro usb plug but for an external GPS you need a really good battery. You could run a garmin in reach or other Bluetooth GPS system and still charge the tablet to keep it running. That is my current understanding. The advantage with the non apple products is the ability to expand the memory and bring along music or movies.

That's kind of what I had deduced. If it was mobile capable, it ran either A-GPS or GPS (still not understanding the difference). I will only run maps with power full time. Batteries are improving, but I have power to docking station for my phone and a 2nd unit, assumedly a Tab for GAIA only. I have a Lockpik for running movies from the harddrive or DVD in my RHB OEM head unit while moving. Not that I watch, but listening is nice for long road trips.

I believe its just like mine and needs cell service or wifi
