Roof rack or trailer?

I always hate towing anything, lots of people have no issues with it - have you spent any time towing a trailer? If it were me, I would try the safari rack first, and if that isn't sufficient for what you need, then try a trailer next. The rack will always come in handy (or easy to sell), but it is a pain that you can't get it into the garage with it on.

I was against a trailer for a long time. However, I got tired of climbing up on the roof to open/close tent and to get stuff down. Our van is really tall. Also, with stuff on the roof it won't fit in the garage. I picked up an old M101 trailer for $500. Its awesome. I cannot believe how well it tows and its 50 years old. It has a ton go ground clearance and makes getting to the tent way easier.
