I currently have the rhino rack jeep backbone systems which utilized the pioneer tray. I have the low profile rails however wondering if anyone has this setup along with a RTT. Not sure there is enough room to wrench. Please advise.

We have the AEV Rhino Rack (not the same mounting style as your) with similar clearance issues. Getting the tent on there is completely doable, but it did present some challenges. We overcame them all but one of them that caused me a lot of frustration was getting my arm deep enough under the rack to secure the nuts on the brackets. At the time, I was using long bolts to get the fit right. Super frustrating to have a free spinning bolt you can barely reach and trying to get a nut threaded on. Anyway, got smarter and fabed up a better solution to eliminate the spinning bolt issue. Life got a lot better. Then, I stumbled on an offset ratcheting wrench. Can't tell you how much that made the whole process. So even with limited clearance, it's all doable.

Thanks for response. Nice rig by the way. I really want to elimInate any frustration from the get go and I plan to not have it mounted for long periods of time so really want something that has the ability to be removed and installed easily. I recently saw front runners quick release RTT mounting system but not sure if it’s compatible with rhino rack since the slats run front to back as oppose to side to side on front runners rack. There’s a cool YouTube video on it too.

TXAG....do you happen to have a close up picture of the attachment to the platform. I had a Rhino Rack platform attached to Yakima base. This wont fit on my newly purchased JKU, so i would like to know the method you used?

Thanks! How easy is it to remove the platform. Secondly, does it interfere when you remove the freedom top?
I just recently changed to the lower profile legs so it took a little longer than I’m used to since I had to get the rack centered and had to adjust several times. With previous legs I used a mini Allen wrench which sped things up (3 minutes to remove rack). However with lower profile legs I had to revert back to the standard Allen key which took me about 15 minutes. With more practice and no adjusting I’m thinking maybe 5-8 minutes. I can remove freedom panels easily with the rack on.

Nice jeep I have the rhino pioneer platform on my unlimited as well. I've tried a lot of mounting styles for my rtt. What works best for me, I need all the height reduction in can get - being on 40" rubber, is to mount the tent directly to the tray.

I put the tent on the tray and opened it, removed the mattress. Next squared it to the tray then measured and drilled thru the perimeter base frame so that the holes are centered on the slots in the tray. Using 4 m8 bolts with the clamp nuts from rhino, I can (with a helper) set the tent on the back of the tray, drop the clamp nuts into the slots and slide the tent forward to drop the other set in

I can put the tent anywhere I want front to back. It's not quick release but it suits me and it sleeps better as the tent is flat on the rack.

I am a rhino rack dealer so I had some extra hardware.

Hi I have a Pioneer Rhino Rack, looking to mount my GordiGear RTT, I think I like your set up, do you have pictures or more details on how you mounted? I have my RTT in the garage on a winch, I want to back the Tacoma in garage under the tent and just lower it down and bolt.

Thanks
