There were a lot of questions last night regarding comms and specifically ham radio.

Here is a link to a good thread @Kent R posted.

And for those interested in classes and testing locations, here is a link to the ARRL search on their site. Just type in your Zip Code and desired Radius. If you don't find something, expand the radius.

As I mentioned I did a two-day class that was a full review and then test. Many offer a one day class and test. If can, do the 2-day. If not just study up before your class and should be fine. It's recommended that you begin 30 days before your test. This means you only need to study a handful of pages per day at about 30-60 minutes per day. Makes it really easy!

Cheers and feel free to aks any questions!

Awesome is how I would describe the SD meet up last night. Great to see all the families and kids having fun. Thanks son, @donuteater , for taking the time and effort to put this all together. It’s a great start and I’m sure there will be many to come. We were all having such a good time inside we forgot to have a rig walk around! Something for the next meet up.......Cheers!

Great to meet everyone at the event in Del Mar last night. Thanks to those that set up the great venue, I now have another bottle to add to my collection. Looking forward to getting a group together out in the dirt somewhere. Special thanks to Frank for driving all the way down and sharing the news of his Orange County Group!

My pleasure, it was great meeting you. Next, we get out on a trip and bring both bottles for some tasting comparisons! ha ha ha.

Big thanks to everyone that came and made this meet a complete success. We all had a great time and shared in some great food. Jimmy, the owner of Seasurf called the next morning and wanted to thank the group for the support. I explained we should be thanking him for the great food. Another community relationship at work. I may have celebrated with dad @Tank a little to hard, but we were both excited he is up and about again on his new hip. The owners of Del Mar Wine were very happy with the turnout and have opened their doors to us whenever we want to have another meet there. I am already on to the next and planning a cool outing for July, even though personal whiskey tasting is going to be hard to beat. I was happy to see the members with families and kids felt comfortable and the kids had fun too. Next month I will have my little groms with me.

Once we get a good group established if the majority is interested we can have a couple training classes about either different wheeling or camping topics. The sky is the limit but I really have some great ideas for our group.

Thanks to @FrankRoams for coming down and supporting our SD group.

I wanted to see if anyone was interested in doing the Bear Valley Run next Sunday the 22nd? A few of us ran it last time and there were a few who wanted to make it but couldn't, so I'll just throw it out and see if it sticks?

I am good starting at 6:30, if your in East County and don't feel like doubling back we can just plan on meeting at the staging area at the trail head which is right off the exit. Those of us caravaning out should be there by 7:15ish. The trail usually takes 2 - 3 hours depending on how much we end up playing around!
