I'd be able to swing any Saturday night to tent camp and hit some trails on Sunday. Only time I know wouldn't work due to a planned family vacation is July 17-23, we will be in Panama City Beach, FL that week.

Im open to whatever. I have a camper but would need to be pulled with my other vehicle. So it's easier to throw a tent in the jeep... Sounds like there is a plan starting to form.
My wife and I want a camper. Just don't know what we're going to buy yet. I want a motorhome so we can pull the Wrangler. She wants a 5th wheel and a new truck. lol. Hopefully in a couple months we'll know what we're buying. So for now, it's hotels or tents.

Looks like we're shooting for the weekend of June 25/26. So far we have a few people that are tentatively going. Now I wish they did make an OB flag so we could stake it in the ground at the campsite. lol
Anyway, would be great to meet in person. Even if you have to come down in the evening on Saturday. Time permitting, I wouldn't mind hitting a trail Sunday morning before we head back to Iowa.

That late in June I may be able to get the Saturday off, maybe... I'll talk with my boss and see once it is in stone. Maybe start a new thread or edit this one to add a poll so people can say whether they can attend or not?

Boss said it should be a go for that date! So I am 99.99999% sure I will make it. 6-25 and camp then head home 6-26. I can be at Redbird at 930-10am on the 25th.

Awesome! That would be great if you can make it the whole weekend.

Maybe we can also use this time as a training opportunity. Such as, we could do some mock recoveries or something. I have a winch, but I'm not very proficient with it. Someone who knows a lot about winching could step up and give us all some pointers.

Honestly I don't have much recovery knowledge either.. In fact my Jeep has no front recovery points. That will change before then for sure

The trails shouldn't be too bad. I thought this would be a good one since it's moderate and we can use it as a "proving ground" for our rigs. Also with a group, no one will be left behind. This will also be a good opportunity to air down, air up, etc. and see what works best for your rig and tires, etc. I'm looking at buying the Viair 450P portable air compressor. This will probably be the first opportunity I will have to use it.

yea he is. I contacted members from a couple different states to get some trip and meetup ideas.
:0( I moved from Michigan and live in Virginia now. I'm there about 4 times a year though. If the trips anywhere near when I'm there, I can adjust to a few weeks in any direction to join up.

I have the ViAir 400P and LOVE it!

OK I called GREENE-SULLIVAN STATE FOREST to inquire about reserving sites. The nice lady I talked to told me they do not do reservations on their primitive sites but that time of year they are never close to full. She said the sites allow 2 tents and 6 people per site so we can compact in if needed. She also recommended we stay in the Wampler Lake camp grounds. She is sending me out information today that will have maps and is going to mark the areas we discussed. When I get those I can scan and upload them to here for everyone. She also said that we can get one day fishing licenses locally or online if we are interested.

Ok, so the new guy will try and make it. I have nothing but a stock 4WD Tahoe and no camping gear. The most off roading I've done is taking it into the back yard of my house to drop lumber for my fence. I think you may want to add a maybe the poll.

@CQBSquirrel I've never been there, but my guess is that you should be OK if you stick to the light trails. Good tires go a long way.

My jeep is stock as well. You should be fine as long as you have tow points. We will have a couple rigs with winches if needed. As far as no camping gear, you got a Tahoe. Fold the rear seats down and boom insta bed.
