So I’m thinking about an upgrade in tire on a stock 2019 Ford Ranger. Currently have Bridgestone Dueller A/T 255/65R17. Someone suggested General Grabber A/Tx 245/70r17. Does anyone know what size tire you can go up to without lifting or leveling? I know nothing about tires and the Internet doesn’t offer much that I can understand. I just want a little more clearance. Any advice is appreciated.

A 265/70/17 is the best option with only a very minor rub in some cases when using aggressive tires.

Have fun. :)

Alternative sizes are 265/65/17, 255/75/17 and 255/70/17.

If you want to avoid lifting/leveling mainly have to stick with 265 tires. On my Ranger I currently have 275/70R17 K02s on Icon wheels with an Icon Stage 2 suspension and at full lock and compression I still get a little rub but that'll be sorted out soon. The 275/70 would work on a stock truck with some rub at full lock either direction. Adjusting the crash bars and removing the plastic bits would help the rub. But the main issue you'll run into is the clearance from the tire to the upper control arm. Stock my Ranger had 265/65R17 and I was less than 1/2 in from the UCA, so moving to bigger tires for me meant offset wheels because of the taller and wider tire. My plan is to stay skinn and go with 255 75 17. I am running a 2.5 inch level. Good luck on your decision
I spoke with a local company here in town and I was told that doing a level and adding bigger tires is gonna screw up the geometry and cause unnecessary wear and tear on half shafts and CV’s. After listening and doing some of my own research I think I’m gonna go with the BDS 3.5 lift and add some General Grabber A/Tx 285/70r17s with American racing Baja’s to prevent some UCA rubbing. I just want to do things right and I definitely don’t want to break in the sticks.

Just be ready to do some crash bar modifications with the 285s on the front to avoid rubbing. Also don’t forget the alignment when it’s all done. Tacoma’s, Ford is making aftermarket stuff hard to do. Hopefully with these Broncos coming out, Ford starts putting more thought into these issues.
Maybe to get an idea what you can expect from Ford is to compare suspensions in an F150 Fx4 to the raptor and maybe that will tell you what they intend for the Ranger/Bronco when they put out the "raptor" versions. I would expect to find your best options in the aftermarket scene though.
