What are you guys running as far as radios? I'm running a president Andy and switch from a fire stick 48 inch and a 102 in whip. looking at putting in VHF radios, and a sat com system in the future.

I run ham (x3), GMRS, and CB in order of preference.
We have a good communication section (Overland Communications) that should answer most any question you may have.
And a little thread I put together that may (or may not) be helpful:

Unfortunately haven’t got my Ham license. I have a Cobra 75wxst that I really like. Slim and compact so there isn’t a whole bunch of stuff in the Jeep cockpit. Need to pick up so walkies too

Just a few - Uniden Bearcat 980SSB CB, a Midland MXT105 GRMS, a Kenwood TM-V71A Ham, a Garmin Inreach Mini, and Weboost Reach cell booster. Then I also have handheld versions of CB, GMRS, and Ham for family.

The ham or GMRS licenses are not expensive and good for 10 years, you may want to consider it as an option.

There was a test session close to you a few weeks back. I’ll see what I can dig up, I know there is another ON Sanctioned session coming up, just don’t know when.

HAM, GMRS, CB, APRS

Not all at the same time but I can operate HAM and GMRS at the same time then I have another radio section in the vehicle that I swap back and forth from APRS to CB as needed.

My radios are a mix of cheap Chinese stuff and surplus Motorola gear.

I'm running an old radio shack CB that I bought 20 years ago, yes it still works lol. Along with the CB I carry two 5 watt hand held BTech GMRS radios. Hopping to get some satellite comms before the summer is over.

In a previous post there is a link to learn more about ham and GMRS licensing, You could also check out this link: General Mobile Radio Service (GMRS) for details. With the GMRS license there is no test, just registering and paying the license fees.
