Quick road trip to Mt Rainier. Explored Elbe train car diner, a few general stores (when the sign TELLS you to wear shoes...it's a classy joint), and of course the mountain. Not much off the pavement, but fun nevertheless!
brings back old memories, sounds like you had fun
there was a guy that rented inner tubes to slide down the slope there years ago
...remember how green the glacier melt off was
hunted nearby there too
miss the PNW
In 1987 I spent 6 weeks at Ft. Lewis and did manage to get to Ranier for a weekend. Went to Seattle to visit a friend a few months back and had to make another trip out there as well....still as breathtaking as ever
I've been at JBLM for over a year now, and shamefully I've never made it up to Rainier. Make no mistake, I've been all over this state and Oregon, just not Rainier.
It's a beaut, for sure. I have to admit I go to the Olympic national forest much more, tho. My regret is not hitting up Canada while here. Out of time now
