Quick road trip to Mt Rainier. Explored Elbe train car diner, a few general stores (when the sign TELLS you to wear shoes...it's a classy joint), and of course the mountain. Not much off the pavement, but fun nevertheless!

A few skiers today, no tubes though. PNW is the best I've found so far! So much to do outdoors
In 1987 I spent 6 weeks at Ft. Lewis and did manage to get to Ranier for a weekend. Went to Seattle to visit a friend a few months back and had to make another trip out there as well....still as breathtaking as ever 
Glad you got to come back and see it again! I've been at Lewis for six years, and it never gets old.
I've been at JBLM for over a year now, and shamefully I've never made it up to Rainier. Make no mistake, I've been all over this state and Oregon, just not Rainier.

It's a beaut, for sure. I have to admit I go to the Olympic national forest much more, tho. My regret is not hitting up Canada while here. Out of time now
