I don't want to turn national parks into Disneyland but there can be a lot in-between. Forest rangers don't need to clean toilets or sling burgers. A decent vendor can do that better and more efficiently. As with most things it's where the line is drawn that matters.
I totally agree with you on the ranger part. The rangers job is to check the park, make sure the safety of its patrons are accounted for and be the caretaker of the PARK and wildlife per say. The toilets can always be sub'd out. Most of them are Port o Johns sitting inside of a cabin. Sometimes I think bringing vendors for food can be a bit touchy cause that kind of opens up the door for human error or even possibly more pollution than what we already have in them.

The comercialization of parks is not unique to the U.S. It is a common thing here in Australia to make campsites into overpriced "glamping" and exclude the rest of us from enjoying them.
