I had a similar style kettle. the one thing which made me get rid of it was the constantly open spout. I just kept getting the inside dirty during non use. I even made a plug for it but without a tether.......

Army surplus...nesting aluminum pots, mess-kit, stackable utensils, small uluminum coffee pot.

Two nesting fry pans, with handles cut down. Lay a paper plate between them to eliminate rattling.

Coleman doesn't take up much room, and well worth the space given up...when two burners are in use and crap ain't tipping over ever time you move.

I too generally cobble together kits made of my favorite pieces or gear for a specific trip. I like a lot of brands and use cast iron, carbon steel and anodized aluminum depending on my whim. I do have a nice nesting set from Magma that is really good but I don;t always take it as it is not really rated for use on a campfire which is my preference in cooking when possible. I also use a single wall Kleen Kanteen for heating water in the fire or a billy type pot on the stove, no kettle for me.

I believe I have some new Stanley gear coming that I will do a review on and am in the process of starting to review the new GOSO carbon steel pans (very nice on initial opening of the box) so some stainless steel will likely enter the conversation on my channel.
