Do yall know any good easy routes within about 3hrs of Washington DC that I can do in an FWD car with 6.6" clearance? (hopefully to about 9" soon)? I was looking at some of the level 1 and 2 routes on onX Maps. I know it's an odd ask, I'm really just looking for gravel/dirty/rocky gravel. I was able to get up to the trailhead for Peter's Mill Run, albeit slowly, and decided to hold off on going further until I built some more confidence.

The vast majority (but certainly not all) of the fs roads in the Jefferson/ Washington/ Mon forests are gravel. I use the interactive map extensively when planning my adventures. Zoom in, click on a feature/ road and a window will open with more info.

Hope this helps

Do you think I could tackle Flagpole Knob down to Reddish Knob?

Depends on the route. Taking Union Springs into Flagpole, no. Coming in from rt 33/ Sweitzer/ Skidmore Lake, probably with some careful wheel placement. Coming in from Briery Gap rd (paved) shouldn't be any problem as the route into Flagpole is mostly groomed gravel. The road up to Reddish is paved. I hate going up there because it is paved and one lane. Too many knuckleheads come flying around the blind corners. Nice views up there, though. Worth going up at least once. Hope this helps.

I was thinking of coming onto Flagpole from Rt 33 and driving straight down through Reddish to 250. I'm planning on giving it an extra 2.5" of clearance soon. Might camp at Braley Pond. Are there any other camping options along either trail? Thanks for all the advice!

I’m not familiar with Braley pond, although that doesn’t mean I might not have been past it. There are numerous camp spots along the route in from 33. There are a few down around the lake and some closer to the top of Flagpole. There’s also a few on the Reddish Knob side of Flagpole as well.
