So in anticipation of a long trip later this year, i started thinking about how to put a bed into a jeep JKU. I didnt find too much info online and havent seen this done much beyond just throwing some foam or an air mattress on the floor of the back seat area so i attempted to come up with something. It is removable since most of the time it is 4 of us in the vehicle, but this upcoming trip is just for two and i figured i wanted an option for when it wasnt a great idea to put a tent up outside. If anyone has done this , or has seen this done, i would appreciate any info you have to pass along. or just if you have any comments, feedback, or suggestions. it is still very much a work in progress. thanks!

Not so great vid of the progress so far...

Check out NickZero on this forum. He built one in his JKU then drove there TAT for a few months with his girlfriend. He has a build video and probably some good pros/cons to go along with it.

I'm considering deleting my passenger side rear seat to build something similar. Good luck!

Ok. So i finished the bed and i am super happy with how well it came out! Very comfy, not too claustrophobic, good bit of storage available under the platform. And removable so it stores in the garage when not in use! Next up is working on a sun / rain shade that i can connect to the jeep and cover the rear and one side at least.

Here's a walkthrough of how the bed worked out. Sorry if its a little Blair Witch like on some of the filming. :)
