Not really an overlanding trip because I went for the day and wanted plenty of time to hike and explore the park. But if weekend or more were made out of it there is plenty of opportunity to explore dirt roads and nearby BLM land. Hollister Hills is also only about 30 miles away.

I went for a bucket list reason to see California Condors in the wild which as recently as 25 years ago was impossible because there were no Condors that were not in captivity. Today there are only about 300 and 155 in California. I was very lucky and had six sightings and at least four different birds. Unfortunately I had trouble with my camera and was only able to use my phone for photos, so the Condor pictures turned out very poorly. I did get some decent landscape photos. The landscape is spectacular and worth the trip alone. The hiking trails are fantastic and can be a little intimidating. I did not get any pictures of the trails but if you are curious google the "Steep and Narrow trail" it is incredible. There also caves to explore.20170408_161442.jpg 20170408_150752.jpg 20170408_161622.jpg 20170408_151253.jpg 20170408_151951.jpg 20170408_155147.jpg 20170408_155801.jpg 20170408_151956.jpg 20170408_150735.jpg 20170408_152319.jpg

Yeah, about 14 miles. I wish I would have got an earlier start, it was beginning to get dark.
