ok...I guess most people would just call it a coffee mug...

besides my fondness for titanium sporks, very little in the overland culinary department has garnered my praise...until now

I was on the internet looking for a coffee mug that I could take out to my workshop and not worry about breaking it or damaging it if it got hit by something or knocked off a bench. I decided long ago that glass and ceramics are a no-go, especially for camping. I was thinking about the perfect mug that could be used at home AND on camp trips. the specs were fairly simple: hold at least 16 oz and be able to hold hot/cold for a decent amount of time (didn't have to be as long as yeti and Stanley since I drink pretty quick) and I needed it to be robust and easy to clean. it also needed to be comfortable as a lot of mugs I've used had weird and uncomfortable handles. I came across the Tuff Mug and was intrigued. My immediate joy was that it is all stainless and had a knurled handle. After more reading, I saw that it was a knurled handle like a dumbbell and it started to sound like the mug was directed more towards "gym bros". I was getting ready to continue on with my search when I realized that it did seem to be exactly what I was looking for and who cares who its marketed for if I like it. I went on and ordered it and once it arrived, I haven't been able to put it down...

Its heavy duty and has a great feel and I can even use the handle with gloves on because the handle is spaced well from the body of the mug. Its fairly heavy and feels very well made. Works great for hot and cold and has quickly become my mug for everything. I could easily use this mug to eat out of as well.

If anyone is looking for a really good mug, I would recommend this one
(amazon has it for less, of course...)

THIS mug paired with a long reach titanium spork...its really all you need for any trip!

The only issue I have with a lot of the “mugs” on the market is the handle. They make them too low to fit into the cup holders. The yeti that I have I can remove the handle. But ya that’s just another thing to carry around. I recently got given a massive Stanley and it actually works. The handle is high enough that it fits the cup holder and holds enough liquids where I’m not having to refill as often. Do I really need 44oz of coffee no but on 8 hour drive days it helps. We all camp differently so if it works for you then it’s perfect

I've been using this 20oz Orca mug for years. I like that it is tapered to fit a cup holder and the handle is high enough to not get in the way. Plus the removable lid with flip top "whale tail" keeps the liquid from spilling, which I will inevitably do.

My other choice is the "OB" Yeti 30oz. tumbler. It doesn't have a handle, so technically not a mug. But, I can live with that.
