Not too many people even know the CJ6 even exists lol
Only one I knew of. I almost bought one before I bought my landy. Guy wanted $1000 and needed some assembly. That's why I didn't buy it. I wanted something running. The same with a super nice 90 bronco that needed a tranny fix. That one was $1000 also.

Should have gotten the BKO, tranny swaps are cheap... we BKO owners practically give our transmissions away after doing the 5 speed swap... or do the 5 speed swap for less than it costs to rebuild the transmission.

Did any of you catch how much Paul Walkers 91 Bronco Went for at Jackson Barrett’s Auction?

Should have gotten the BKO, tranny swaps are cheap... we BKO owners practically give our transmissions away after doing the 5 speed swap... or do the 5 speed swap for less than it costs to rebuild the transmission.

Did any of you catch how much Paul Walkers 91 Bronco Went for at Jackson Barrett’s Auction?
Somewhere around $100k I think..!

I suppose I was not that clear, what I meant was that the first year Wrangler YJ borrowed a lot from the XJ (Cherokee) while it was still body on frame like the CJ, with the same wheel base most of the int. drivetrain and suspension was out of the XJ
XJ had front coils, YJ had leafs all around. There were few interchangeable components.

I never knew XJ had a body in frame...1983 first year of the XJ was unibody construction... 1983 SJ was the last year of the full size Cherokee... The Jeep Grand Wagoneer ran until 1991 based on the J-10 Chassis (also not an XJ).
The Jeep YJ shared more with its CJ7 Predecessor than any other platform... Late model (1985-1986 Renegade) shared seats, suspension, engine, and transmissions with the 1987-1991 YJ... in 1992 the YJ got the updated 4.0 that had been used in the XJ for the 3 previous years. The other change besides body between the CJ 7 and the YJ was the transfer case... CJ 7 had the Dana 300, while the YJ had the new aluminum NP231. The XJ used the NP242 and the NP231, and the rare XJ had a NP241 (although I have never seen this model).

M38 was my first "car" in 1973.
My Uncle drove a government issued Jeep in Europe, 1944, when all Jeeps were government issued.

The M38 was the first vehicle I ever drove as well... I remember driving through the fields with my dad beside me as I stood on the seat to see over the wheel... my dad had put a hand throttle in it to govern the PTO for powering the grain auger. Worked great in low range as a cruise control for teaching us kids how to drive.

@Billiebob , nice picture... brings back memories of my grandpa

Your dates are a little off but overall accurate. XJ's first model year was 84. YJ started gettting the 4.0L in 91 when the HO 4.0 came online not 92. Up to that point they used a carbed 4.2L from older Jeeps.

Now here is one for you, Did the 80’s XJs ever have a manual sunroof?

Heres my 2 copper plated zinc discs worth, Judging by your name your not an average folk. I happen to roll a seriously modified 80 series. BUT I have walked people that took a wrong turn onto Hells revenge in a Jeep compass and succesfully navigated them out to safety. Is it a good idea? not really, but using your head you can push through basically anything. Overlanding, living out of your stock truck thats all comfort stuff.View attachment 123909

There's always been debate over if there even were OEM sunroofs or if they were all dealer installed options. Some folks on other forums have been able to show factory build sheets with sunroofs listed on them.
I was asking because my 89 had a hand crank on between the front and rear doors... it looked factory, even had a Jeep logo, but was told it was aftermarket on the Jeep forums...
