Kelly. I hope this gets traction with the full timers and those that want to do full timing. Is Overlanding fulltime, still "Overlanding", or are you now just living in a van down by the river? :-)
P.S. I'm now full timing it :-) View attachment 179066

it does suck....Hated to have to move back to LA, but this too shall pass. Maybe like a kidney stone, but it'll pass.

I would think it is still Overlanding. It's not like your living under a bridge sleeping in the back seat of an 89 Honda Civic....Kelly. I hope this gets traction with the full timers and those that want to do full timing.

For full-timing, I decided to go to truck and trailer route. I like being able to set up base camp, and not have to break camp down to go anywhere. My preference is to stay in each location for a couple weeks.Kelly,
I look forward to reading more from you about full timing. I am due to retire in February and the plan is to begin overlanding full time at the beginning of April. After 150+ nights in the rooftop tent over the years and moving through a couple different vehicle platforms I am finalizing my vehicle choice now. Any suggestions would be appreciated based on what you have found. And I think I will be completely happy living and overlanding in a van down by the river...

That is one of the major reasons that we are going to move away from the rooftop tent. While it was nice to be up off the ground we found that having to pack up each time we wanted to go explore was a bother. I started in a Toyota Tundra and switched over to a Ram 2500 with a Cummins, which I see you are currently running also. Fuel mileage and range was a big factor in that decision. Do you have a water filtering system that allows you to pump and filter water from any source to fill your tanks? We want to remain in remote locations as long as possible. For full-timing, I decided to go to truck and trailer route. .How are you communicating with the world? Or are you going mostly incommunicado? I find myself with the opportunity to be a part time digital nomad. Starlink, cell signal booster, tracking down wi-fi signals?
.I quite often tell people that my only life ambition is to become a full time Gypsy.
I get some strange looks.
congratulations !

We have several forms of comms; Ham Radio, Garmin EnReach, Weeboost cell extender and at some point we will be getting a SAT phone. How are you communicating with the world?
