More like It depends what you want to be prepared for , not scared of. Just like all the gear that we carry on our rigs.
Glock 26, 9mm only because its perfect for concealed carry. I'll bring my SIG AR along too.

I will start by saying I only carry/bring where it's legal. I prefer concealed, open just feels tacky to me. And I don't think other people look tacky open carrying, I just think I look tacky haha.
Currently I have really been enjoying my Springfield XD 9mm, it's fun and light. That comes practically everywhere, on my most recent trip to VA I also brought my Mossberg 590 Shockwave, it's a very nostalgic gun for me and my absolute favorite piece. A lot of my camping trips also include stopping at a range, so there's always some cool stuff floating around our group.

I too am a sucker for 1911's. I would love to have one in .38 Super. Maybe someday but for now my Browning Hi-Power in 9mm is my prized possession.
