What do you listen to while driving on your Overland trips? I listen to a variety of music from the Foo Fighters, Chris Bathgate, Jack Johnson, Matt McHugh, 30 seconds to Mars, Pearl Jam, Mumford and Sons, Coldplay, One republic, Coleman hell to name a few

It depends on what part of the trip, and who's with me.

I'm pretty sure there hasn't been any style that hasn't been played at some point or another.

Yeah me too. Like country music there is a time and a place for country music and my Overland trips is not one of them. LOL!

I generally don't listen to music while driving, but on our cross-country trip, I'm sure I'll need something now and then to while away the hours when we are not talking. I have a Sirius radio mounted on the dash, and I'll probably have some mellow background music playing. Their Coffee House channel (#31, I think) works well for that.

Road and Overland trips are the only time I prefer Live albums. Normal driving around town I don't really listen to music unless it's classical on the local OTA station. There may be some Frozen songs played on the way to preschool every morning though,. I didn't start that trend but I'm not willing to suffer the wrath if I don't execute a flawless duet along with my 4 year old, lol.

Dave Matthews Band, Tom Waits, Iron Maiden, and The chairman of the Board himself Frank

Road sections by myself, audio book or FM radio on scan.
With the wife, we talk, we're strange like that.
In the outlands, nothing.

Ryan Bingham, Reckless, Kelly, Jeffrey Foucault, Lucero, Old Crow Medicine Show, Oasis, just to name a few.
Also enjoy audio books since I don't get the time to read anymore.
Oh, and the Frozen soundtrack is pretty popular with us too! @Wolvee

Well let's see, If it's just me various forms of metal!!! Various forms of country and blue grass, classical and movie theme music. And something I really like when I'm long hauling it is some sort of comedy station, seems to keep my eye lids a Lil less heavy. Also like to listen to the truck and the road.

If the wife is along the same minus metal and add techno dance booty shakin jams

On particularly long stretches of pavement we listen to audiobooks and podcasts. On our way to Colorado last winter we binged on the entire Serial series. On the trail, pretty much anything is fair game.

I go through stages, but right now a lot of "Alt Bluegrass" makes the cut. Bands like Trampled By Turtles, Old Crow Medicine Show, etc. A good bit of reggae happens to find its way onto my playlists, too, although pretty much only when I'm driving off road. I don't tend to sit around and listen to reggae.

And then there are all my staples. The Connells, Jack White, Cracker, The Dandy Warhols, Throwing Muses, The New Pornographers, Tame Impala, The Flat Duo Jets, etc.

Oh, and I love my "EcoXGear" bluetooth speaker. Great sound, holds a charge for hours of play, shockproof and fully waterproof. You can throw it into a pool or stream and it plays the whole time.

On our road trips we listen to just about anything cept, "modern" country, hard core rap, big hair 80s and modern "Pop".. Other than those four genres one can find a huge variety, from Bach to Beatles, from Miles Davis to hard core New Orleans Jazz, from Bob Dylan to Frank Zappa, from Crash Test Dummies to Dave Mathews, from David Byrne to The Clash, and from Jonny Cash to Lyle Lovett. Bela' Fleck is in a class all his own.. Once we hit the two track,,, I-tunes, Pandora, Sirius,, OFF. We listen to the rig, our conversation, roll the windows down and enjoy .

Cracker... Yes! @Paul Misencik

Lots of stuff gets played when driving: blues (especially when something breaks or someone gets stuck!), various Americana or mild bluegrass, P&W songs, some rock, different varieties of country, and whatever else may come up on the random playlist. Around camp or when we're stopped, we typically don't have anything playing.
