Overland trip starting near Nogales?

I am going on a cross Arizona trip early this year. I would really like to start in Mexico and camp there. I cannot find any information and am questioning if it is an option due to being so close to the border? Any locals out there have any information? or suggestions? Thanks

On the USA side, check to see if the areas to want to traverse are classified as a NDA (national defense area).If so,you will need to get a permit from the military. Seems like a lot of the border these days are NDA zones.
