Being on the road all the time and not always having access to a computer it would be great to have an app (for android) that would allow me to find points of interest and such. I use Ioverlander a lot, but that is really geared towards international visitors without much US information.

App features:
-Basic HTML/CSS base without a lot of fluff
-Downloadable database of locations
-filterable for:
-free camping
-paid camping
-public lands
-Trailheads
-driving
-hiking
-Repair Shops
-weather
-members locations that have offered help, etc

I would suggest Ultimate Campgrounds. I think trying to have one app be great at everything would be hard to do. For example, I love Gaia GPS for tracking and navigating. It's always a challenge to have lots of relevant POI data that is up to date and verifiable. So I use Ultimate Campgrounds in conjunction with Gaia. Same thing with weather. MyRadar Pro is great. There are others. Gaia had a radar feed in the older issue but they were having issues with the data feed.

Lastly how much would you be willing to pay for the perfect app? That's a huge factor for developers. Can they make money?

I'll check out ultimate campgrounds. I use a number of apps for camping including I-overlander, Allstays and so on. I love Radarscope Pro. MyRadar is nice as well for longer range.

For price...i have not been hesitant to pay a decent price for the right app in the past. For the one above; $9.99+ I imagine you could also have an add-on purchases etc.

I hope to learn how to make apps...but for the time being I'm still trying to learn basic html/css with git....lol

In the same process as well. Learning swiftly with SWIFT, C++, objective-c, java and python currently. Not swiftly enough to build the app we need from scratch tho.... due time....

It is a heck of a process learning code. Coming from a hands on dirt and grease world I feel illiterate not being able to read it fully. Something I am slowly fixing. I really sucks to get old in todays society :D

Would be very interested to see these Apps.

I guess it takes a brave programmer to set about this task,
but the end result could be well worth it , and commercially viable, if the price is sufficiently within the "nice price" range (not too expensive...)

Interesting times ahead.........
