I own two horses myself and had the opportunity to visit this extraordinary town prior to the whole Overland Bound experience. I just though it would be a fitting site to mention for a visit. As its been said Overlanding is not just vehicle transportation it encompasses many modes of traveling. This is a fantastic way to enjoy nature in just a different aspect. The drive is approximately 2.5hrs from Fort Bragg. If you decide to detour through the Uwharrie National Forest From Fort Bragg your looking at approximately 3 1/4hrs drive but, the scenery along the route is worth the extra travel time. You can kill two birds with one stone do a little off road adventures in Uwharrie en-route if you choose.
Love Valley's downtown invites visitors to ride into town on the dirt road, hitch their horses to the hitching rails, stroll along the boardwalk and shop at the country store, tack shop, gift shop, general store, hardware store, or the blacksmith shop. There are also restaurants, saloons, and various other businesses. Parking is available for visitors, by car or motorcycle, as well.
Situated in the foothills of the Brushy Mountains north of Statesville, North Carolina. The town host events including rodeos, horse and wagon parades, concerts, a chili cook-off, or you may want to take a leisurely horseback ride along one of the winding trails.
They offer Camping Grounds, Cabins & Rooms. There are no vehicles allowed to drive on the Main Street but, there is an available designated parking area.
Great heartland meals like catfish, brisket, BBQ, Carp fries, Rocky Mountain oysters. This is nacho mamma's NC town- no Nascar, no Food Lion, no CVS and no Days Inn. Love Valley is NOT a resort, theme park, or shopping Mecca. It simply is what it is; a little town for people that love a simpler way of life. If you DO have horses, then I highly recommend you go. If you just want to visit someplace off the beaten path in the beautiful mountains of North Carolina then definitely go check it out.
