Interesting and I'm sure that much of your statement may be true, however, the retail store that I purchased it from ignored the early on wear of the product, they simply informed me, "so sad, the warranty expires in one year", and went about replacing the worn screen for a nominal fee. Maybe I should have made that perfectly clear from the beginning. Maybe I should have contacted Otterbox instead of the retail outlet. I read the warranty, and It does say one year. In hindsight maybe I shouldn't have taken the one year warranty literally. Indulge me once again... I built my bathroom 11 years ago. I gutted it and installed everything, including a new state of the art Kohler mixing valve for the shower stall. Every 4 to 5 years without fail I call Kohler and they send me out a new mixing valve cartridge. It was made very clear in the beginning that the assembley had a lifetime warranty. That doesn't take away from the fact that we don't get a shower at home for 3 to 5 days every 4 years or so. Yes, Kohlers custtomer service kicks ass, however, should they be designing and selling a product that lasts for only 4 years? I and They didn't think so either and the last mixing valve I installed is of a completely new design and made of better materials. You don't care for me calling out a shoddy product that simply did not live up to the marketing hype. It doesn't matter if they send me out 100 of them. They simply will not withstand even the slightest amount of trail dust or sand that gets kicked up in the southwest deserts 3,000 miles from home and destroys your brand new $700 phone. If Otterbox lives up to your or other consumers expectations, thats cool. We have a differing opinion of a product. Or, quite probably, I may simply be expecting way too much for what at that time was a $60 phone case.. Oh, don't worry, I don't feel picked on by you or anyone else. It's cool. As I type I'm usually smiling and laughing to myself with my proverbial tongue firmly in cheek as I either rant about a poor product, or rave about a really good product. Hmmmm,, A really really good product? Slow as molassus me discovered Turbo Tax this year... wow ! Took me about 3 hours to go longform, purchased their protection and e-filed it. My tax lady used to charge me 350 for the same thing. Next year now that I'm in their system it'll take maybe 2 hours to complete. I ramble -- peace out..Try running both of them over with the car and let us know how the phone survives...
I don’t mean to pick on you, it just seems like an odd review you just left for a great company. You compare them to a battery with only a three-year warranty, while in fact they have a lifetime warranty on their cases.
This seems to be the reality of what happened as I understand it: your case started to wear, you waited a really long time until it wore even more and then finally broke, then you got on a forum and complained about them after buying another case.
It seems to me that instead you could have chosen to: notice some wear on your case a couple years ago, call Otterbox right away, received a replacement within a week for the cost of shipping which is about six dollars, installed a new case, repeat as needed.
Once again, seems like an odd review to me, when in fact the company stands behind their products very well, and ships free cases out with no questions asked. It really doesn’t get much better than that.
As I said before, there is no perfect case, but there is perfect customer service, and Otterbox has it.
