Hi, In 09 I was in Moore and came back through the Panhandle, I didn't have the time so I bypassed the highest point in OK, Black Mesa, nice campground also. Then take NM456 to Capulin Volcano NP and drive to the top. I went up into Colorado from there, since you are headed to Zion 1st you'll probably want to head more southerly. I always wanted to hit Pie Town NM.
Then there is Petrified Forest, Meteor Crater, Grand Canyon, stop in Hurricane UT and see Matt's Offroad Recovery........

just some ideas.

Moab up to Green River then Hwy 24 down to Hanksville. Head west on Hwy 24 to Torrey, turning south on Hwy 12. After Bryce Canyon, take Hwy 89 south to Hwy 9, which will take you west into Zion. This route, while all paved, takes you through/by all 5 National Parks and passes many opportunities for off roading. Potash to Schafer trail in Canyonlands is awesome. Hwy 12 is spectacular. Lots of options for fun side trips.

Thank you, this may be the route only backwards!
