I have been busy doing some DIY mods the past few days:
- added my Renogy MPPT Solar Controller it has a Bluetooth module and iPhone monitoring app. I like having my controller inside vs connected to the panel
- connected my 12volt SAE Port In the front box. I keep my fridge in my truck but power it off of the trailer when camping. It has a modified power chord with an SAE end so switching power sources is easy.
- swapped out the factory rims and tires for 33” AT tires on my revolver style Toyota rims
- added a few push button disk lights in the front storage box and rear galley for additional lighting
- added some hooks inside to hang jackets or hats
- swapped the factory single wheel jack for the XO Jack
- started to organize the back galley. NOTE: the standard size FrontRunner boxes (pictured) are too deep. The smaller cub style fit nicely.

I‘m still in the process of reviewing all of my gear and removing as much as possible. I tend to carry too much stuff.

Here are a few pictures. More mods to come!

I added a 23 Zero Peregrine 270 Awning and Shower enclosure to the trailer this weekend. Both are great. The awning creates a massive living space.

Been looking at the Expedition for a while now. Looked at the specs online. Can anyone confirm the height of the trailer from ground to highest point (no roof top tent)? Wondering if this will fit in my garage once I figure out how to afford it lol.

I don’t have an RTT. I do have 33” vs 31” tires on my trailer. It is about 88” tall at the awning height. The awning could possibly be an inch lower but that’s it. It needs to clear the kitchen box. Ground to roof rack 78.5”. Off Grid has spec sheets online for download.

Thanks! With 83” for my garage it looks like the base trailer would fit but would have to remove some accessories in order to store it

Yet another minor modification. I added some US Cargo Control airline style L track with anchors. I’m putting my folding table(s) and solar panel suitcase up here. Plus a few other items as I see fit depending on the length of my trips.

Just waiting on some different straps.16994D45-AFAC-40EB-8865-AB1DCAE812EE.jpeg

This is 1/2” mat from Tractor Supply. It’s a bit heavy but I like this vs a piece of outdoor carpet. Pros and cons lime everything else. I have pretty much run out of little projects to do. Next mods will be a “conduit” tube for the awning poles mounted to the roof rack and mounting the spare tire to the roof rack. I want to keep the front of my trailer open for extra room. (That’s the normal mounting place)

Looking forward to your continued upgrades to your rig. I'm a fellow FJ owner how does your FJ handle towing the trailer? View attachment 127204
No problem at all. This trailer is pretty light considering it’s size. I will get it weighed with a full water tank one of these days. I’m probably around 2200-2300 loaded with water and gear.

I also opted to extend the Max Coupler bar.Max Coupler makes a longer version. It uses 2 bolt holes at the end vs 1. This give me extra clearance for the FJ door. I can now mount the spare tire up front if I wish but I’m thinking when I get around to making that a 33” tire it may not work. So IF you plan to get 33” tires either make sure you get them at time of purchase or see it Off Grid can make sure the mount will work with larger diameter tires. The mount uses 6 bolts so there really isn’t a way to raise or lower it.

Because my FJ has the 7 pin connector under the bumper I require a 7 pin extension. I don’t really like those so I plan to get a longer 7 pin cable and just rewire the trailer.

Off Grid is having a good sale on inventory and demo units. There are a lot of options. Demo units are $2000 off if you have been considering getting one. Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals.

That sale was good! If anyone is still looking I have a expedition 2.0 still available!
