US Rocky Mountain OB - Colorado Springs Meetup/Training (monthly)

I thought the issue was using non-certified (Part 90 or 95) equipment for GMRS (I'm not going to mess with FRS due to power constraint for the most part). I think you're good up to 50w so that isn't an issue with the handhelds. I'm admittedly still pretty ignorant but thought having separate devices will keep me in the clear till I get more understanding.

Part 90 only applies to the Public Safety, Industrial/Business Radio Pool, and Radiolocation Radio Services. We are discussing part 95 and part 97... I think ;-) Anyway, you are on the right track and avoiding the food-fight! Hope your testing goes well!!! KD0VGV out

Hey guys, it's only Monday but I was thinking to go out this weekend, ideally in Denver/Springs area.
If anyone would like to join me reply here and then we can start planning! :sunglasses:

Proposed agenda for 21 Dec Colorado Springs Meetup, Rally Point.

PPLD 21C, Rm “CreateSpace”

1000 - Library opens, all troop in
1000-1045 - Set up presentation (@mountainrecce )
- Quick introductions/reintroduction (@Fortis Overland )
1045-1200 - Presentation/discussion on overland medical kit preperation, considerations, resources, examples (@mountainrecce @Lifesaver )
Not a first aid class per se, we will be discussing common methodology and rationale for kit setups for travel and backcountry
1200 - TBD Depart for trail ride (I believe we discussed Mt. Herman Rd) and possibly some field discussion and/or demonstration of spotting and recovery

There is a small cafe in the library with coffee and muffins, etc; however I am not sure if it is open on at the time we will be there, I will let everyone know here, when I find out tomorrow.

Guys, I'm looking at Amazon to purchase a GMRS radio. If you want one as well we could buy a bundle and split the cost. PM me if interested.

A little more information for Saturday:

1) The cafe that was in the library is closed, so eat before you come. It is ok to bring snacks and/or covered drink
2) We are meeting in the CREATESPACE. It is upstairs and located on the northeast side. Parking on the east side of the building and going in that door is probably best
3) Firearms/weapons: No open carry in the library system, concealed is ok
4) Bring your first aid kits if you want, but not necessary
5) Try to be on time (the library opens it doors at 100) and we want to start as soon as setup
6) We have a rough plan for the trail portion, we can discuss that further upon departure from the library

We look forward to seeing everyone!

Looks like I'll be able to join tomorrow, and even get on the trail ride provided we get going on time (gotta be back by 3 or so). Looking forward to connecting again!

Also got my HAM license this last week so hopefully can get some tips on the ins and outs for offroad/overlanding ;)

Address for the Library (My first time)? I wanted to make it at 1000, nut looks like I will only be able to make it for the trail.

Found it. Pikes Peak Library on Chapel Hills Dr.

Start Point:
1175 Chapel Hills Dr, Colorado Springs, CO 80920, USA
GPS Coordinates:
38.95337, -104.7930

@mountainrecce I'm familiar with those. I just wondered which one you might like since you weren't having much success with my first choice.

Of course the 97 has great coverage, it's on Pikes. Most are on Cheyenne.

Great day today! Thank you to everyone involved in setting it up! I don’t yet have any significant first aid kits so now I have a better idea of where to start (@mountainrecce can we get the slides you presented?)!

Trail ride was fun too and James (my son) had a blast on the short trail.

Here are some photos I got from the day:
