NorthWest US + BC Canada Suggestions and Info

Hey guys, just signed up to this forum officially. Just got back from Arizona and Utah, and kind of want to plan my next big trip for next year. I'm really torn between going back to MOAB and doing Colorado (which I missed because of most of the trails still being impassable with snow) And doing northwest US + BC. It seems like a trip like that would take MUCH more planning as the trails don't seem to be as readily available. I don't know the first thing I should even consider when planning a trip like this, so kind of looking for suggestions and opinions. ANY info would help and be much appreciated!

For BC Back Road Map Books http://www.backroadmapbooks.com/ has some really good resources. I would suggest looking at Vancouver Island (can catch a ferry from Port Angeles Wa.) We have a little bit of everything with only the one ferry. There are tons of places on and off grid to camp with a variety of levels of accessibility. Do you surf? Got that too.

Hey Jim, I'll take a look at the book. Do you know if it tells you the difficulty of the roads/trails? I know you guys have a lot of beautiful places to visit, anything MUST see? The more secluded and untouched, the happier I'd be.

The maps books cover every type of road and distinguish between them well. They are fairly detailed they break down BC into 6 books and include things like camping, fishing etc.
There are places on Vancouver Island (VI) that I know better, but Glacier National Park, in BC. Mt Revelstoke, and Yoho.
If you cut over to VI you could avoid Vancouver though it would mean 2 ferries, either via Anacortes or down and around to Port Angeles, You could hit Avatar Grove, and Carmana Walkbran Provincial Park , there is good camping between there and Lake Cowichan via Pacific Marine Road. Then make your way to Nanaimo and take the ferry over to the main land. This puts you in Horse Shoe Bay and on the Sea to Sky highway (99) towards Whislter. Whislter is a mountain bike town in the summer and skiing in the winter and to my mind pricey.

I am heading up into this area this summer for a couple of weeks. Will let you know what else I find on the mainland.
