Northeast New Mexico Suggestions?

We are thinking about beating this heat and heading north for some cooler weather and taller mountains. Any suggestions in the northeast corner of New Mexico?

What about the Rio Grande Del norte Nat monument area and Carson Nat Forest, looks nice. A friend that lived in NM would talk of this area a lot for outdoor fun!!!! Good luck

Miss it out there. Never had an overland rig while I was living in ABQ. Dying to go back to Tres Ritos now!

I like Sugarite Canyon up by Raton. Tres Ritos area is neat too! Good summer time temps. I frequent Mills Canyon just outside of Roy,NM
