This past weekend was our first trip out with the roof top tent. It was also our first camping trip with our son who turned 2 months old last friday!! Our first night there we stayed in Pisgah National forest. We ended up making a spot at a pull off area for a trail that was off the road. It was waaayyyyyy crowded there this weekend!! Got to see some beautiful sights and saw some very nice rigs and met some really nice folks!!

I remember the logistics involved with traveling with an infant. Ya'll are brave! I tend to avoid holidays in public areas but looks like you nailed it!

Thankfully he is a great baby!! He seemed to really enjoy it which is awesome for us lol!! I always joked before he was born that I would have him waking up in a tent while camping before he was 3 months old! I made it happen! I will try to avoid holidays probably from here on out. Unless its something that can be reserved! or with a group...

Congrats on your son! We just got back a week ago from our trip through the Georgia Traverse with 2 dogs and our 6 month old! It's definitely doable, and i couldn't believe how many people were so surprised we had a baby with us...

The trail was mostly easy, at least for the sections we managed. Took longer then expected, probably because of all the rain and the wife not wanting to spend the entire day in the car, especially with the little one. The only real difficult section ended up being the western side of charlies creek rd. due to all teh washout from the rains.

As far as camping spots, there were tons of places to camp along the way. We ended up at some primitive sites that were designated simply by virtue of where we ended up, but we passed lots of places on the trail worth camping. We are definitely planning on going back when it's a bit cooler and dryer to finish things.

That is awesome!! Maybe when it gets closer to time to hit that trail we could meet up and tackle it! I definitely like the cooler, dryer option!!

I just did some of the GA Traverse this past weekend. I did some of the loop west of Blue Ridge on my way up into Nantahala and Cherokee. Definitely some nice and private spots on the trail...

While there were tons of people up near the major rivers, the Traverse was not too bad on Friday pm and Saturday am.

That looks nice!! I think this trail may be my next adventure. Are there some good views? I hate that I live so far from everything ugh!! I need to do some research on tires now and see what most recommend for this trail. I'm running Cooper ATP's now cause that's what came on the truck. Just can't find the reason to buy and replace perfectly good tires!! They may hold up to most general trails but they aren't very aggressive tires i feel like. Any way....time to start planning again!

The blue ridge section is probably the prettiest section. We ran the trail west to east (Backwards) to meet up with family in North Carolina afterwards, so we didn't finish the eastern part of the trail past charlies creek. Some of the overlooks on the western side were really nice. It was rainy while we were on the trail, so some of the views kinda sucked and we didn't spend a ton of time out of the truck as a result.

I would tend to agree with the post above. Although I haven’t done the Tray Mtn to Charlies Creek section, the loop west of Blue Ridge is beautiful. Below is the view from Mill Creek Overlook. One of the campsite images in my previous post is south of there, just east of the Lake Conasauga camping area (that campground was pretty full this past weekend, while I was off by myself:) If you continue ccw around that loop, there is also a very secluded campsite a bit before the intersection that feeds into Blue Ridge - see bottom photo, with the main road way in the background. BTW, all of the trail I have done in my TRD OR has been on the stock tires at street pressure. You do not need A/T for most of this trail. In some parts, you may even pass minivans:). Still, I am planning to get a set of A/T next month.

Beautiful family, love the Schnauzer too!! I have a miniature and standard. I am awaiting the call from CVT that my new tent is in, and then we are off! Looks like you were in a great spot.
