Hey all,
My name is Derrick and I live in Savannah GA. I grew up in Maine and lived in Alaska for a few years, so I’m not new to the outdoors. Overlanding wasn’t a thing back in my younger days(I’m 47 now), we just called it camping, which I’ve done a lot of.
I own a 2019 4Runner TRD Off Road in Nautical blue. I had a Jeep years ago, but life has prevented me from getting back into exploring. Gonna hit it hard this year, or try! I’d really like to get out west.
I look forward to meeting folks in my area and abroad that are like minded.
Glad to be a part of the community!

we just called it camping,
It still is, overlanding is just a marketing scheme today. It used to mean more but....
Alaska offers fantastic opportunities to get beyond camping and into overlanding which in my mind is all about meeting new people, cultures, local history.... which Alaska is full of.

I have often wanted to go to Georgia, Alabama, Louisiana to learn about the people and culture which are absolutely foreign to where I live. One trip, a weekend, to Little Rock, AK and I really want to return for a few months.

Hey Derrick, my name is Gary and I live in Knoxville, Tennessee, next to the Great Smoky Mountains. I am also new to this group and overlanding/camping. I'm 63 and retired. I have a 2016 4 Runner with a Alu-Cab tent on top with a Shadow awning, solar panel powers my fridge, and I have Dobinson drawer system in the back. Lots of accessories. I'm planning a 4-6 week journey this summer out to Colorado, Wyoming, Montana and S. Dakota. Just got tickets to a Lynard Skynard concert in Sturgis on August 9. I see there are lots of off-road trails in Colorado. Am looking forward to going there.

Sounds like a great trip! My vacation time is limited, even more so now with the Coronavirus. Everyone’s vacation plans where I work have to be altered this year. I’m still hoping to get at least a couple weeks worth of exploring at some point. Good luck to you.
