Hey everyone!

I am an overland newbie and just getting started with it. I've always wanted to get into it and finally saw the perfect time after divorce and finding my mom's first truck for a restoration project. So I've turned an old 76 GMC Sierra Grande into my first overland vehicle.

It's been a challenge as the truck started life with more rust than paint but it's finally road worthy. Just waiting on it to get back from the spray liner paint job.

I'm hoping to start off with some small trips here soon when the truck is back to ensure everything is good to go (frame off restoration job) with the new motor, trans and everything else I've done to it. Excited to get out there and meet some like minded people though!

Awesome! That is super close to me, especially where I'm at in RR. I've got quite a few trips planned through December (elk hunting 3 weeks and some hiking trips) but will try to make a meet to come say hi. Still waiting on my truck to be done right now but definitely excited to get out there!

Everything I have is a bit old for pics. I got tired of not having the time to finish the restoration myself and sent it to a custom shop to finish the motor and trans swap right now. Basically just amassing more and more overlanding stuff while I wait on paint and motor to he done.

So many fun things waiting for install and a few things I'm taking to the shop after getting back from my elk hunting trip. Namely, 37s, replacement bumpers, and winch.

Theist of things to install when it gets back is VERY long. The rack, tent, all the accessories (shovel, axe, rotopax, etc) and either thinking of building a bed box to store my stuff in or finding some kind of soft topper that maybe fits under the rack. I've got a lot of things I'd like to keep out of the weather ideally, so still searching for ideas on that solution.

Still tons of work to be done but it's coming along fast. :)

Truck was painted 2 weeks ago. Got wired up and placed on body this week. Should be getting it back to start throwing on all the overlanding stuff. Top half of cab will still be painted white on the truck.

I really want to find time to design a soft topper that uses the frame of my overland rack (mind you no one makes overland racks for these trucks so im using aomething made for another vehicle) and fit a softyoppwr under the overland rack to keep my gear clean. I feel like I could put my sewing skills to work and make something happen. I dont need it to be perfectly water tight, just keep the bulk of the mud and dirt off my Dometic and other stuff in the bed.
