6500 acres? One trip and you have seen everything there is to see there...I cant see paying big money for something like that when I can go to any national forest for free and have endless places to explore.
I can. From Lubbock its 6 hours to any proper trails, 10 hours to Colorado. Its less than 2 hours to Palo Duro. Day pass is $45, not $50. Here, I can make it a day trip any day of the week vs scheduling a 2-3 day trip and losing 20 hours of drive time. It beats what we have now in West Texas - Nothing.

Here is their update for requirements:

Vehicle Requirements to Access Off-roading and Overlanding Areas and Trails.
  • All vehicle must have current liability insurance.
  • All vehicles must carry a functional fire extinguisher.
  • All vehicles must have a FRS or GMRS radio. Hand held's are fine.
  • All street legal and registered vehicles welcome for off-roading and overlanding with up to 42" Tire Limit Size.
  • Off-Road Vehicle Requirements
    • NO Motorcycles, ATVs, or Side x Side
    • 42" Tire Limit Size
    • Must have firewall
    • Must have muffled exhaust, no straight pipe or open headers.

Something just says scam about it to me. It is very vague, the website has no links to click for more info or the links are dead. None of the rigs in their video have texas plates. Land isn't even closed on till March 1st but taking memberships already. I think I'll wait a few years and see where they sit.
All membership money goes into escrow until land is purchased. Clearly they are not tech savy. However, I'd be willing to drop $300 to see if it pans out. If it doesnt, I get my money back. I am also guessing they will have to do something about members who have promises of cabins, RV's and camping. They have none of that done yet.

Stuff loses my business when they charge yearly, like jacobs plain gun club when they went from $20 a day to shoot to a yearly membership i stopped going there and built my own firing range in my back yard, haven't been back since.
Let me know if ya'll want to go back and shoot there. 15 dollars for me to bring guests. 250 dollars a year is worth it to me. No way I could haul in enough dirt at my property to build decent berms for anywhere near that. I think the main reason they went to annual membership vs pay at the gate day use is because there's no one there day to day to manage the place. It runs on "big boy rules". No RSOs, typically no one out there but me, just dont shoot yourself or launch one over the berms.

Exactly. Carson Ntl Forrest is 3 extra hours for me vs driving to Palo Duro. I've been to Carson a few times, haven't even seen a fraction of what that place has to offer yet. 2100 square miles. Yeah that's about 1,391,360 acres. Even closer to me is the Ozark and Ouchita Ntl Forrests. Combined about 3,000,000 acres or 4600 square miles. Sad thing is Texans who don't travel out of state very often or just assume everywhere is like Texas for public lands, are so starved for public land that 9 square miles is going to seem like an infinite amount of land. And I can disperse camp without forking out extra fees.

I just saw their pricing structure. One night with me, wife, kids and Jeep is running over 90 dollars.....per night. Yeah hard pass. That's a lot of gas money.

The problem for us living in central Texas, is it is a many hour drive just to get to the border.

Looks as if I cam going to do some work for them. They need a writer and editor for their website, emails, blogs and magazine articles. Headed up their next week to get a look around to meet them and some trail time in to write their first article for an outdoor magazine. I'll report back what I see and my overall impressions afterward. Thus far, it seems like they have a great path, but are a little shorthanded trying to launch.
