Hello Everyone,

I am just getting started in overlanding. I've been 4 wheeling for a few years and love it. Living in Wyoming gives me a chance to get out and explore the beautiful state. I am just starting my adventures in my 2008 Grand Cherokee, Kala. Look for 307 Expedition traveling the state.

Welcome 307Exp -
I am a native of Laramie, WY, many, many moons ago. My Great-grandparents are buried in the City Cemetery. I reside in Boise, ID. We are currently in Jackson and the Hole. Major snow above 8400 Ft. We'll return to Boise tomorrow via the low-land route and Freeway. There are a lot of overland trails and open N.F. roads on this side of the state. GREAT Fly-fishing and wildlife sighting yesterday...

Thank You. We are home safe this evening. Woke up to 30 degrees, heavy frost, and very low clouds. It didn't lift until we were half way between Idaho Falls and Pocatello. The route from Hoback Jct, into Alpine, Palasades Res., was full of Yellow, Orange and Red Quaking Aspens, Sumac, and Hawthorns. We hit dense fog dropping into Swan Valley. Safe trip home, despite stupid drivers and the wind. I really do hate driving in the wind. More importantly the Gusts. DG

Hey there. Love me some Wyoming, went to Jackson Hole for my honeymoon and rented a Wrangler for the week. Loved it so much, when we came home I traded in my Charger for a Wrangler. Never looked back and now I'm starting to overland with it. Go enjoy your journeys in your Grand Cherokee. You'll love it.

A bit late to the party for replying, but y'all were in my old neck of the woods. We lived in Etna, which is about 10 miles south of Alpine on US 89, from 2006 until 2015. Parental health issues here in La. prompted a kicking an screaming move back, unfortunately. That drive from Hoback and around Palasades is definitely an awesome one in the fall. Middle of January headed to IF for groceries? Not so much, lol. Antelope Flats between Swan Valley and Ririe during a ground blizzard can be downright brutal! I really do miss living up there, though and I'd move back to Star Valley in less than a heartbeat, but unfortunately, life happens...
My profile pic was taken on a two track in GTNP at the edge of a bluff overlooking the Snake, just west of Mormon Row.

Welcome from a Greenie to your South. Been spending time up your neck of the woods off and of for years. Lots of Overlanding fun to be had on the FS Roads in the Snowy Mtn. Range. Here is a pic from just off the main road through the Snowy's taken this summer

Sweet. Great way to into jeeping and overlanding. I’ve never been to Jackson. I live on the east side of the state.

How is Laramie peak area these days, Last time I was through there it looked like the lands were being split up, sold off and built up. Any favorite spots you'd recommend?
Being from Wheatland I'm sure you've been to Glendo and Gurnsey. A hidden gem not far NW of you is Ayres Natural Bridge Park. the county takes good care of the park, It has like 7 camp sites and a large day use area. Great for an afternoon picnic under a large granite archway with water still flowing beneath it.

The peak is fire scarred in a lot of spot. Some of the trail go across private property that has been closed off. On open trail cleanup needs to happen with all of the downed trees because of fire and wind blowing them over.
