Traveler I

Hey everyone! I’ve been looking to get into overlanding and have been watching many YouTube videos and have the bug. I currently own a KIA Sportage so must of my overlanding will have to be light. But me and my family (wife and daughter) are looking to do some exploring this summer with camping over the weekends. Any advice around the NW and Central Oregon would be great. We are currently going to be tent camping but I’m in the process of building a trailer.

Thanks everyone

Nothing wrong with tents , as a family of 4 (sometimes 5) I can be setup with tent, cots ,bags, chairs and cooking gear in 10 min . Everybody has a setup job , if everybody works together it goes smoothly. You can see a lot of the Oregon Backcountry in something as simple as a Toyota Camry just put a good set of tires on your little Kia and you'll be good to go.

When summer rolls around look into the wabdr it's easy to follow and not very technical but the harder spots usually have a bypass plus the start is close to pdx

http://ridebdr.com/WABDR

Oregon also has one , it's a little harder to follow in spots but still a fun route.

Honestly you can just drive out to most the forest lands and just pick a forest service roads and usually end up somewhere fun .

Does the WABDR allow cars on the trail?
