Hello all-

Just signed on to the board – I appreciate all the information posted and hope to contribute. The day-job is in finance with a local non-profit but my main non-work/family focus is fishing (both fly and gear) for steelhead, salmon and trout. I’m also involved in fish conservation and we surf and ski/snowboard when time permits.

I’ve had off-road vehicles for about 20 years; Defender, Discovery, RangeRover, 4Runner, Tundra and a couple Wranglers but have pretty much left them stock until my current Wrangler. It’s set up to be my base for overnight fishing trips in places where conventional vehicles might be less appropriate.

Photo of my rig below with co-pilots Alicia (wife) and Princess Yuki the Belgian Tervuren. We're frequently on the Olympic Peninsula year round but roam the PacNW spring to fall. Give us a shout if you see us.

Yes, it's made by a company called Ursa Minor that has facilities in San Diego, CA and Portland, OR. They also make them for the Honda Element. It works well for one or two people.

Very nice indeed Thomas!...it fits right in like a normal hard top ...great design...always looking for better way of doing things!

I don't have a Wrangler at the moment but hope to in the future, my current rig is a 03 WJ Overland ...it gets me where I need and want to go!20180224_120755.jpg20171202_082804.jpg

Welcome to OB, and nice rig you got there. How are you liking the J30? Most I’ve come across love it but they seem to mainly be single, and I’m curious since your traveling with the wife your thoughts. I ask, because I plan on getting one for my build when they release the JL version.

Welcome from a SoCal angler/explorer! My daughter is a senior at UW this year. We will be coming up end of May or early June for graduation. Perhaps we can meet up!?! If that works, send me a PM and we can exchange info.

Thanks all.

I've been working hard and getting out as much as possible so haven't been checking in here as much. I ended up selling the Jeep and getting something with a little more room. Losing the built in Ursa Minor camper hurt but there's always a trade off...

I will find your fishing spots, and fish them!! Fellow salmon/steelheader from Fremont!
LOL I will give you directions.

1) Launch your boat somewhere below the hatchery on the Sol Duc.
2) Fish the good spots
3) Take out at the Dickey or somewhere upstream
4) Have fun catching something like this:
05.13.18.02

Seriously, if you see the rig above, give me a shout. Will have a shell on the back by winter. See ya on the river!
