So excited to be here as we are planning our first trip to test our new Taco and equipment. Traveling from San Diego to anywhere in the SW preferably within a couple hours at the end of December. Would love any recommendations, was looking at the Valley of the Moon or Jacumba. Thoughts?

welcome from san diego!

I wish I had more info to give you about routes, but I'm a relative newbie to overlanding. That said, there are some routes in Death Valley, and Joshua Tree that look amazing!

Welcome. Check out Fish Creek Wash in Anza-Borrego. It's close, scenic, and easy. You can get some nice photos of your rig. Sandstone canyon is very cool too. Fish Creek Wash . You can also enter Fish Creek wash from the South via hwy S-2 and by using the Arroyo Seco del Diablo or the Arroyo Tapiado trails, both of which go down the Diablo drop off. Sounds scarier than it is. On the Arroyo Tapiado trail there are some cool mud caves to explore.

Welcome from PQ! I have been to the Valley of the Moon and north of Jacumba. Though they have some interesting features, I second Steve's suggestion of Anza-Borrego. My profile pic is actually in Arroyo Tapiado. We enjoy the mud caves every couple of years. There are many days worth of exploring in Anza-Borrego. Hoping to get back out there soon, as this is one of the best times of year to be there.
