New 2023 Colorado/Canyon

Any thoughts on the new Colorado/Canyon for overlanding ? So many seem to think you need either the ZR2 or the AT4X because they have lockers and better suspension.
I just purchased a lower priced Canyon At4 and Wondering if this truck would be good enough or should i consider modifications?

I have a 2nd Gen Z71 that I built out. The Z71 is the same as the AT4. Not only do I overland with it I also straight up wheel with it. No extreme rock crawling but I’ve done some pretty crazy stuff with the truck. It’s a very capable rig with 4.10 axles and the G80 auto locker. All I did was add a 2.5 inch Fox suspension lift and Old Man Emu rear HD springs and threw on some 32 inch R/T tires and I’ve been super satisfied. Never felt the need to upgrade to the ZR2.

Thats great to know. Sounds like a nice rig. The 2023 at4 has a 2 inch lift from factory. Will look at actual springs and shock ratings in that case.
The diffs are 3:42. With g80 rear.

Wandering_Scotty, GM never offered 4.10s in the 2nd gen Z71, only 2nd gen with 4.10's was the 4cyl WT, all others have 3.42's. 4.10's are a popular mod, I did my ZR2 the first year I owned it. 4.10's with 33" tires feels close to the OEM 3.42 and 31's.

The 3rd gen AT4 is more than adequate starting point for a build. You may have room for up to a 33" tire. May take a while to get comfortable with the G80 diff, you need to spin the tires to get it to lock, just go light on the throttle.

I have 255/80's, 10" wide. Best way to correct speedo is th eTrifecta tune but it's not avalible for the 3rd gen yet. In line speedo correcter should be avaliable soon. Some 3rd gens come with 33's, the dealer may be able to correct speedo but I wouldn't count on it.
