I have Motorola.

GMRS is a higher power allocation in the same frequency range. You technically need a license to use it. You get more power and better hardware with them. The license is like $80 for 5 years and extends to your immediate family. It's a step towards a basic amateur license. It's not necessarily interoperable with FRS.

It's complicated, but the short answer is FRS is good enough.

Just other FRS.

FRS is UHF or the 70cm band or 462 - 467 MHz while CB is the 11m band or 27 MHz. (Sorry, my amateur radio license requires that I give you a bunch of useless information.)

Yep your correct ! that was useless , Ha

You can probably get a pretty inexpensive handset that does both. Get the cheap Motorola... The power is capped by FCC anyway so it's not like the more expensive ones are higher wattage. (if you want that buy an off brand Chinese unit)
