Nebraska to Drummond Island Mi?

Looks like we get to go to Drummond Island in June! Not sure if we are going Nebraska to South Dakota to Minnesota Wisconsin to Michigan or Nebraska to Iowa to Wisconsin, to Michigan?
Are there any stops you would recommend? 2 jeeps, 4 adult 1 or 2 teens going.

Can't tell you much about the trip over, but I just did Drummond a few weeks ago. Nice views out there, enjoy!
