The wife and I are thinking about hitting the road in search of warmer temps for the Holiday season. I did Big Bend about a decade ago in the early spring on a motorcycle but she hasn't seen any of west Texas and very little of the deep south.

We are not on a tight time schedule so would like some input on what to see along the way as well as where to camp. Should we wander north into the Ozark's or south into the bayous? We're comfortable camping down to the mid 20's but prefer much warmer.

I can tell you it’s getting close to the 20’s in Big Bend at night right now. So far it’s been a cold fall for Texas. Big bend is amazing but if you’re hoping for warmer temps, you may need to go a bit farther south. Gulf Coast, or Florida would be my suggestions for the temps you’re talking about.

Look up the Georgia traverse. You might be able to roll that set of trails and backroads into your trip wherever you end up going, if you’re going south.

Looks like we are going to be in east Tennessee on the start of this trip so we may do some of the Georgia Traverse headed west and then south on the Natchez Trace Parkway all the way to Natchez, Mississippi. I've found an interesting site about the Louisiana Byways, (https://byways.louisianatravel.com/ ) which may guide us on a pretty good sampler of the Cajun state. From there we have friends in the DFW area. Next, depending upon weather we will either head straight towards Big Bend or west north west into the Pan Handle to see Palo Duro and Caprock Canyon. This is beginning to take shape so please keep the comments coming.
