NC, TN suggestions? Tryon to Knoxville

Hello, all -
Looking for suggestions/ideas on trails, routes and campsites for a drive from Tryon, NC heading west towards Knoxville, TN.
Will then be heading from Knoxville all the way south back home to Miami.
Let me know! Would love some tips on the routes, places to camp, etc.

A good place to start will be looking at a map of the Smokey Mountains 500. You're going to be cutting across the middle of it and there are plenty of roads to try. Hurricane Creek to Max Patch will be off I-40 enroute to Knoxville. Don't overlook Smokey Mountains NP. Depending upon your routing, the Georgia Traverse will be within reach going south.
