I'm trying my hardest to find the maps of national forest land that shows roads (dirt, paved, unmaintained) but that also show the small dots alongside the roads where dispersed free camping is designated. I've found these in the past but its always been a struggle and now I can't seem to find them again. I think they're usually PDF format and are black/white. I've searched the fed site but can't find it. Anyone have this bookmarked?

I went in to the local forest service office and picked up everything including my National Forest service senior life time pass. The maps are supplied by the "United States Department of Agriculture." They are beautiful colored maps and show every road, trail, path in the whole forest with a good legend block giving all the info that applies to the forest service. I think you would have to know which National Forest you want to get maps on because they are printed for every stat and ever national park separately. My maps or for the Gila National Park in New Mexico.
There is also a manual of "Recreation sites in Southwest National Forest and grasslands" publication that is invaluable and covers every national park in the SW USA region covering NM and Arizona. Hope this helps, you should be able to find them on internet using the proper departments. Or you can write and request the book and maps. The maps are too big to print out. Mine are about 4 feet x 3 feet in size.

Dispersed camping in a National Forrest is everywhere not marked as no camping so not sure what you are looking for. If you have a National Forrest map the whole thing is a campsite unless marked otherwise.

I know some areas have "yellow post" sites but I think I've only found one map for one area (in California) that had the sites marked on a map.

My maps show the normal camp sits from the Disbursed camp sites. The forest service out did their self with the maps I have. My maps are all 2020 maps.

Actually that's what most people think; however forest rangers have shown me on maps before that along the forest service roads some are designated as having available dispersed camping along side. On these roads the maps show small dots along side the road.

On The maps I have all camping sites are marked on the maps regardless of it being a camp site with facilities or it being a disbursed camping site.
