I'll let you know when I plan to go next. They have the most difficult trails around I think. It's pretty impressive.
I'd also be interested in joining but not until spring or summer (when I put in the new lift). I'm a new member sporting a Taco TRD sport DCSB.

I just did about 30 miles of the TN Dirt Devil yesterday. I'll get the video link posted once i clear this forums "4 post minimum" rule.

Hi everybody,

Greg from Nashville here. I recently purchased a 4Runner trail and am itching to test it out (on something other than snow).
Hey Greg @GhostWanderer ,
If you ever want to do a weekend meet, I'd be happy to show you a few trails just south of us. I went out yesterday and put this little vid together...

Mine is currently all stock, except for the front bumper. I can only think of one area you’d want a spotter. But hey, there’s 200 miles of options; much of which I haven’t explored yet :).

I’m sure the 4Runner has enough clearance to tackle 95% of it.

I can't imagine needing a spotter anywhere on the DD...

Just around the time you think you're doing something significant out there, a 1991 Ford Taurus passes you like you're standing still :)

These aren't "trails", they're just back-ass-country roads.

The only exception being the hill on Ben Fly Rd, seen in the video above.

Fair enough I agree. I just remember a couple of bumps that might crack a stock bumper at speed.

Yeah, a few of the crossings have a decent bank, but for sure a stock T4R could handle anything out there.

It's a fun drive!

I agree, the DD is a fun drive. It is an excellent road/trail ride to get your feet wet with Overlanding.

Traveler I

Hey all, I am looking for some suggestions for some VERY EASY trails where I can camp. I am not looking to do real off-roading but just looking for some fire-road type trails where I can take my camper and get away from the crowds of traditional campgrounds.

I am in a stock full-size 4x4 Nissan Titan pulling a 1300lb military trailer. Both have decent clearance and suspension so a few bumps are fine but with a trailer and since I will be traveling by myself I am trying to find something pretty tame.

A view, fishing, mountain biking, or cell coverage would all be a plus but not necessary.

Thanks in advance!!
( I am coming from Nashville, but willing to travel)

Land Between The Lakes is close by, allows disperse camping, and you can fish, hunt when in season, etc. Tons of Forest Service roads graded by condition, so you can pick the easy ones. Great place to get started.

Probably worth pointing out, Tennessee and this part of the South in general are pretty densely forested once you're out of the cities. Your Titan is probably a little wide for most trails, even the easy ones. Expect some pinstriping and maybe invest in some limb risers.

Thanks bval. LBTL is a good idea. That way I could leave my trailer at one of their Basic Campsites and then explore their Dispersed camping without the trailer in case I decide I need to turn around. I appreciate the suggestion!

True statement. Most of the turns once you get in deep are tight. I had a great time in my jeep but didnt think anything very long would make some of the trails.

I'm going to do my best to be there today but I will be late if I can come. My wife told me that I have to finish all my halfway done home projects this weekend before the little guy's bday party next Saturday.

Just a reminder about meeting up at the Casual Pint this Saturday. Its a decent little spot to grab a drink and get a bite to eat.
I got here a bit early and grabbed a big high top for us. At the big table closest to the door. You'll know you're in the right place because my bright orange truck is right out front.

I’ll be a few mins late. Keep a beer warm for me.
