Hello my name is Greg, I live in northern Utah. i am new to overloading. i wanted to use this thread to document my adventurers and my growth as an explorer. I drive a 04 ford f150 ( i know everyone is going to say it is the wrong truck) with 198,000 miles on it. i bought it 3 years ago. I have bin fixing it up over that time. it has had a full engine rebuild/upgrade and an transmission rebuild and upgrade. i will also be posting about work i do to my truck repairs and upgrades alike.

the vehicle that gets you out exploring is the right vehicle to take . most don't believe it but you can take something other then a Toyota overlanding lol . great pics looks like some fun trips
i love it. the only thing is the gas mileage it leaves a bit to be desired. it also doesn't have a tun of "overlanding" parts available, but that just means you need to get creative.:tonguewink:

Great photos. Nothing wrong with a Ford. I've ran Chevy, Ford, and Toyota. As for MPG, I am willing to bet your Ford is comparable to my Tacoma plus you have more room.

over the holiday weakened the better 3/4 and i drove to the left cost (San Francisco). i took my car not my truck ( didn't plan on doing any off roading). but on a personal achievement i have now driven the entire length of I80 from NYC to San Francisco.

Meh, there is no wrong vehicle, but what is true is that as your adventures change and grow, you may find that your vehicle doesn't fit that and you change...
either your vehicle, it's capability or your willingness to take that vehicle to more and more difficult places.

You have been to some beautiful places, just keep getting out and finding those places. If your vehicle gets you there, then it was the right one.

Prepare, go, upgrade, repeat. That's what works for me at least.

Dan.

BTW, some of your pics are not showing up. Are you linking to an outside photo storage site? It's better to just attach them directly to the post I think.

I am noticing that i need to evolve the vehicle to fit some of our needs. We are trying to decide on a roof top tent or a fiberglass cap. I will keep a log of everything i do on this thread. the better 3/4 and my self are going to go do some exploring today in an attempt to map out some of the trail near us. In response to the pictures I tried to link them at first but that didn't work, so every ting that is on this thread has bin uploaded with the exception of my video. i hope that every one continued to enjoy my thread and i will keep updating g it as i go.

i have decided to start a new project. i am attempting to map and document all the forestry roads around my home. thees are some photos from our first outing. the trip was a bit over 15 miles over some fairly rough trail it topped out a 10,200 Ft and took 4 hours and change to complete. i would rate it as intermediate in skill level to difficult if it rains. if it were wetter there could passably be several water crossings.
