My DIY rear tire/fuel carrier using stock bumper

Don't get me wrong, it is a very cool setup. I am just curious at the cost comparison for personal reference as my DIY jobs usually end up costing about the same but then I am not a very good DIY'er.

Just a thought to share. While it makes it handy to lift the gas cans into the bumper rack, it is a dangerous place to have your gas cans. Why? What if some one in a lifted truck or SUV slams into your rear end of the truck? Getting gas all over everything and any small spark would make a real bad situation! Benz.

I agree, but the alternatives are inside my 4Runner, or the roof. Both equally bad locations. Currently, it’s empty as I drive. I fill it before a trip, then empty it when I refill after my trips.

My location is no different than every other aftermarket set up. I understand the concern though.

Many days and I finally finished my v1.0 of my rear carrier set up. I did this on my 4Runner, but it can apply to most any vehicle. I have many ask me about it, so I made a video! I still want to make some improvements, but that will be for v1.1

Excellent build. Looks great and as functional as heavier/bulkier factory made full bumpers.
