I am going to be there and am looking forward to meeting other OB members. I have a friend who I have not seen in 13 years is coming out of Michigan to spend the weekend!! Cant wait! I haven't decided if I am doing the Discovery tour yet because of the 20 hour drive from SWFL. But that can change if someone wants to connect and ride together from the Tulsa direction. My schedule is open and flexible.

edit: just purchased my tickets!! :sunglasses:

I completely forgot to get my tickets and I bet I missed the discount. LOL. I did purchase the Discovery Tour but it maybe way over my head. I don't know why I thought I could do it in a day. We are planning to stay in Tulsa on Wednesday night to visit with friends, so I'm open to meeting for coffee!

I was reading the discovery route thread on the website, pretty sure it's not going to be anything insane. I can update (starting on monday) on the difficulty but from a different start.

I\'m starting in KCMO but I\'m originally from South of there. I\'m headed up the Friday before, spending some time back home, and starting the route on Monday. Depending on how long it takes we may be in Springfield early and will be bumping around the area. I know with VIP, camping can come in a day early. That\'s probably the plan for me.
I can try to be in the Tulsa area on Monday. I'm thinking I'll be spending a day in Lake Havasu then route through Arizona and New Mexico to Oklahoma.
Guess we'll have to see where the start point is to plan a meet up spot.

As we are getting closer, everyone got the warm and fuzzies about the event? Just getting off work after 2 weeks so will be doing a few more odds and ends to get everything prepped up. I'll try to get a more solid plan in terms of camp marking and details as they come available.

Alrighty, flagpole is ready to roll. Also, this is why I can't have nice things. Make sure you bring your (small) state or local club flags. Will have an OB flag up instead of the American flag. Just hoisted what I had to strut a bit. *flip flop for size comparison*20250319_164503.jpg20250319_161343.jpg

Good Morning, my fellow adventurers!

My plans have changed, and I will be unable to travel that weekend to the Moore Expo. We had a death in the family, and we need to pivot for the funeral plans and support the family.
I've been so excited about this event and the opportunity to meet other OB members in person, along with traveling the MDR out of Tulsa, OK.

However, if you are passing through the Oklahoma City Metro area, please shoot me a text and maybe we can meet up for a few minutes. So far @Grantnr is planning to stop for gas on Friday and I'm thrilled to meet in person.

In the meantime, I've been working with @Sand Squid and @SlimJimOKC on the Oklahoma "chapter" of OB and the first official meet-up in May. Check out the new website, still in progress, that will be the hub for local information.
Overland Bound Oklahoma

Please share your Moore Expo images so I can experience it through your captures!

Thanks!

Dixie

Photo of Elvira for fun, after the front brake swap yesterday that took this old man way too long because of the rusted bolts.

Ok, this is for the KC MDR route, and also general enjoyment for everyone else. Couple of sticky spots due the the rains we got this last weekend. As of now Wednesday Thursday Friday are going to be damp too so plan accordingly. I do have the bypasses on ONX if you need them. Always remember, when I doubt just get out. There are a bunch of low water crossings on the first half, walk em out if you think it's necessary.

-first low water crossing you come to was over thigh deep and ripping. I had trouble shuffling it. There was a curl on the top side that could get under you as well. Bypass attached (yes i was in shorts the rest of the day after this was taken)IMG_0639.jpg766939328.jpg

Second trouble spot is a high center. I don't have a bypass for this one because we just muscled up to it and winched off. The crossing on the back side is juuuusssstt deep enough to overflow your boots... IMG_0647.jpg20250421_115244.jpg

And the final obstacle of note is just flat out flooded. We took off with me on foot and her driving. I'm 6 foot and when water is over waist deep and getting deeper that's a no go for me. Somewhere is a low water crossing, also has slight shoulder ditches on both sides. Oh and did I mention it is a chicane? Bypass attached as well. The blue line isnt exact, my butt was wet and was just making reference lines for myself.IMG_0651.jpgIMG_0653.jpg

Those are the trouble spots we found that a heads up would of been nice. All in all it was a great track. Uhhh.. to spoil it a bit.. don't trust the book questions, look at the submission sheet on the back. Also the distances are really close, the street names may get confusing though.
