I have increased the RSVP limit for TG #1, the team leaders want to add one more team to make sure we complete the task.

Bob Brann really needs more people to sign up for TG #2.

Trail Guardian #1 has been capped at 37 members plus the three team leaders that will give us the 40 we need.

We still need members to sign up for Trail Guardian #2 we are about 5 shy of being full.

Attendee messages to go out around the first week of March.

Remember I still need raffle prizes ;-)

Mojave Trail Guardian 03.24 recap

Another great Mojave Trail Guardian event in the books. Those who attended epitomize what the Overland Bound Trail Guardian program is all about.

Special thanks really needs to go to;
  • Bob Brann for helping with the planning for the last five months.
  • Barclay Osborn for all his hard work organizing the NPS database so it was usable, and to set up areas for four teams to survey.
  • The Mojave National Preserve and the NPS employees that came out to make sure we got all the resources we needed. The OHV Ranger, Ondrej, even came out on his day off.

The Primary project was to finish surveying all the dispersed campsites in the preserve, this was completed, this sets us up for the next project to integrate those campsites with tracks into them that have ratings for severity. Thanks to Barclay, Tom, Mike, Ofer and Armin for getting the crews out and helping them be very efficient. Thanks to Michele for her hard work getting a large chunk of the sites surveyed before our event.

Attendees;
67 members, 58 adults and 9 kids. Make no mistake - the kids worked just as hard as the adults helping Dr Sophia and Archaeologist Danilo.

5 projects;
Surveyed over 160 dispersed campsites.
Removed micro plastics from the Barnwell Ranch in the York Fire footprint.
Replaced road signs on Ivanpah Road.
Installed 2000’ of erosion control wattle.
Removed steel pipes from the Vulcan Mine.

$500 Gift Certificate from Top shop Automotive, donated by Carl Sampson( @socal66)
Gazelle tent, Overland Bound
