Mojave National Preserve, Cima Dome Joshua Tree Forest Restoration Site Coordinates and trip report.

Big thanks to Michelle (OB# 18421, @mwilson920 ), Stan (OB# 27263, @Stan_K ) and Brad (OB# 6511, @BJP ) for coming out and planting!

The week went very well. Below are the coordinates for the sites that were planted by OB members during this event. The Ranger in charge of the event has heard good things about Overland Bound and commented that he is looking forward to working with us in the future.

The NPS is working on an Adopt a Joshua Tree program that might come out some time in the future. I will post that information as I receive the emails.

But for now I would like to propose that Overland Bound adopt the following sites listed below. If you happen to be in Mojave National Preserve and feel like doing something, please think about going out and watering some of these sites.

The NPS hopes to stage a water buffalo and some equipment for volunteers to pick up and use on the honor system. But for now you will have to bring your own water. Suggested watering is 1/2 gallon per tree and there are 6 trees at each site.

You should also download the Survey123 app and load up the NPS data set and maps so that you can record data about the trees that you water. (Set up instructions attached) Ie: When, how much water, condition of the tree, if it was found or not, etc. This data will help the NPS plan out the next few years of planting operations. Do not trust the coordinates that Survey123 provides. I have found that those coordinates are several miles off the mark. I used GaiaMaps running on an iPhone to mark each site that I was planting. I will try to post the watering data set when I find it's information.

The NPS is looking at three more years of planting events. Possibly involving 3000 to 4000 more trees.

All of the below coordinates were taken with GaiaMaps.
